I just started reading this book and I swear I've never read it before but the first few chapters seem so familiar. The accident with the crane, the dying dog. Is this a call back to an earlier book?
...it was originally published as a story in the magazine Tin House, back in '06 I think...called Memory....with significant revision it became the first chapter of DK.....

We may have published it here, too. I remember reading it. And I know I don't get Tin House magazine. Did EW publish it as a DK teaser, maybe?

Topic derailing imminent (although flowing naturally from what has been said before).

How are the stories chosen to be included in compilations like "Full Dark, No Stars" and the like?

I imagine not all of Mr. King's short stories and novellas have been compiled. I really wish they could all be published in book format, since I guess it is very difficult to get all of the magazine-published stories. :concern:
