Really enjoyed reading a nice contained story like this after just finishing The Talisman! The protagonist here is despicable, and that just fits the Bachman style for me. He isn't sympathetic in any way to me. At least in Roadwork I could understand that he just couldn't cope at all with the loss of his son and home. This guy is just a bastard. This has one of my favorite endings. Loved it.
