This is the king-size quilt I mentioned which I made for my house in AZ as it has more of a Southwest design. I didn't have quite enough of the backing fabric so used some of the leftover from the patches to add to it but didn't take a pic of the entire backing so this is the only pic I have that shows at least some of it. I included the last pic to show a close up of the quilting detail.

Yes, I'm a quilter, too. I do traditional quilts and have dabbled a little with art quilts. I'm not into hand quilting with either the piecing or the quilting but have done even a king size quilt with free-motion quilting on my domestic machine. One day I would love to have a long-arm quilting machine but they are pricey. I like projects that teach me new skills.

This is one I did a couple years ago as a Christmas gift for my daughter. She had begun the piecing and then never finished it.

This one is a paper-pieced design. When I quilted it, I just followed along the points of the design in white and decided it made a really cool pattern on the back on its own so didn't do any more quilting. I'm one of those who can't throw scraps away so used most of what was left over to make the matching pillows.

Holy crap-balls! Your work is amazing!
Go ahead and slap that hefty price tag on them. The worst that could happen is that somebody buys them.

OK, I read this title as Quitters and I thought you were looking for advice on stopping some bad behavior. Should have known better! :D

These are all lovely! Marsha, I have seen most of these before, but I really love the blue one with the pillows. Simply gorgeous!

Absolutely. Some of these quilts are just amazing works of art. They are works of art.

And I would like to say to all quilters.

LABEL YOUR QUILTS.

YOU MUST!

These are historical pieces and we will not be around forever. These things get handed down. Label who pieced the top. Who quilted it. The date. Where was it made? Does the quilt have a name? i.e. Maltese Cross? Basket of Lillies? Robbing Peter to Pay Paul? (yes, these are all names of quilt patterns).

Or is it a free-style one-of-a-kind that you made up? Give it a name! Years after we are long gone, someone will look at your quilt and wonder what that pieced top is called so they can go find the pattern. They will wonder about you!

And a person is never truly gone when someone thinks about them.
Deej, this is a wonderful idea! I think I am going to look into making labels for the quilts that I have been given (I don't quilt my ownself) and also for my mom's quilts. Thanks for the thought!

Oh definitely! Definitely. Any quilts you own that you know the information about, make a label. It is so important.

I saw this and the first thing I thought was “Quilters Inc.” (insert smiley face with cigarette here) - apparently cannot choose any smilies while on this iPad

Me too - I was thinking of that Stephen King story "Quitters Inc." (I put the wrong words in my original post)

My latest quilt project which I finished up this weekend and will be taking with me to AZ. The lighting makes it look like the background is off-white but it's actually a brighter true white. The middle section within the blue border is what will be seen on the top of the bed and the rest will be the sides and top/pillow section. I used a combination of free-motion quilting, stencils for the corners of the middle and an arc quilting ruler to do the cross-hatched arches on the white border. The quilt has been washed and that creates that puckered look which I actually like in a handmade quilt. Lots of mistakes that would have kept me from selling this but for me, I'm happy with it.

I promise, Dana Jean, that I'll be making a label to put on the back. :wink2:
