A lot of the behaviors exhibited by our friends and relatives that we consider to be odd or quirky are sometimes part of a larger problem. I'm reading a book about a man who has Asperger Syndrome. He wasn't diagnosed until he was in his 40's. Many people have it and don't know it. Some celebrities with Asperger's include Bob Dylan, Bill Gates, Dan Ackroyd, Robin Williams, Courtney Love, and Daryl Hannah. I'm starting to think several of my ex-boyfriends had it as well. It's also referred to as the high functioning end of the autism spectrum.
