I so wanted to be a check out girl at KMart when I grew up. I playeded check out counter all the time. That was back in the day when you had to key in the amount. Inventory was done the old fashioned way. Our KMart had the best food court - little smorgasbord - I'd beg to be allowed to go buy some mac and cheese and green jello with a dollop of cool whip. Go buy myself a new crochet needle and fancy yarn. I've been sad since the 80s about the decline of KMart.

Well initially I think it may have been because the batter knew he was going to be thrown at as retaliation for a transgression by his team earlier in game...

I then think his crankiness may have reached new levels from getting his a$$ handed to him by a bunch of dudes from Florida in white pants...

Oh and his team is behind 15-5 so there's that...

This picture stirs some memories up for me! Looking at it makes me feel sure our KMart had one, too. It had to be when I was very small, though. Because around the time I was in 6th or 7th grade, they put a Little Caesar's in. I am going to have to ask my mom if I am remembering right.

That KMart back home has been closed for a few years. Our KMart here just closed at Thanksgiving. Our Sears has been closed a few years, but it was not a full store, just limited appliances and tools.

I don't ever remember a food court in our Kmart, but I do remember a Little Caesars.

I remember the food court, too. It always smelled of popcorn and rotisserie hotdogs. Sloshing fruit punch and lemonade machines hummed on the counter. People could smoke in public then and I remember old guys eating grilled sandwiches, and reading the paper- drinking coffee and smoking. Not a cell phone in sight. Kmart always had the best selection of Stephen King books.
