This reminded me of a novel I once read about the Chinese immigrant experience in the Mississippi delta. It was a book called The Celestial Jukebox by Cynthia Shearer. It's a book about many cultures and many religions coexisting in the rural South. It's an odd and beautiful novel.

I think that Highlands is kinda at the southwestern end of the state, and I'm in the northwestern end. I'm 20 minutes away from the Tennessee line.
