This is a Japanese series currently running on Netflix. Subtitled.

I am one of the few people who don't find Japanese horror all that good. Yes, they have some really brilliant imagery, and yes, if some stringy haired corpse crawled through my TV gurgling a rat a tat tat tat tat guttural sound at me, I think my bladder would fall out on the floor -- but overall, I just don't think they are that scary. I don't think they are all that original.

This was a series I stayed with as each episode was about 20, 25 minutes -- so quick. And it was a locked room situation. I love locked room stories. But man oh man, I know it's a cultural thing and probably an age thing too as I really think teen girls would probably really like this.

It was intriguing enough to keep me coming back but so many holes. It was hard for me to watch without suspending disbelief. The fact that the episodes were so short is what allowed me to hang with it because if those episodes would have been any longer -- I would've tapped out.

And after the big reveal, they had an episode that was called Re: Wind. I felt like I was in a break-the-4th-wall Mama Mia, or better, Little Orphan Anime.

Whatevs, I killed an afternoon bingeing on it and didn't have to commit too much brain power.

I started the first one. I always want to cuddle rats when I see them on tv or in movies. If you like lock room stories. I try the manga Doubt or Judge. They are made by the same guy Yoshiki Tonogai....I may watch the rest of the show.

I'm one of those few, too, DJ. Not scary (or even interesting) to me. My 19 year old daughter finds them terrifying, though--the jerky movements freak her out. Korean horror is more horrible to me. I'll take a look at this series, though, because we agree on more shows than disagree :)

Just be prepared that I think the target audience is 13 year olds. hahaha. I guess I was having a 13 moment to stay with it. I didn't feel, with the short episodes, that I was losing too much of my time and attention.

I like Japanese horror a lot. But there isn't so much around anymore as there used to. Recently with The Forest and Rings there seemed a bit of a come-back, but both weren't very good.
So I immedeately started watching it. It's very small in scale, but I thought the girls acted quite well - when there is so little else to attract your attention visually because it's the same set over and over, a lot comes down to the actors to keep your interest.
The thing is that because there are twelve characters, how are you gonna convey all their characters and backstories in a way that is manageable for the audience. It's only when there are less and less left that the individual characters became more distinctive to me.
But the twists that kept coming kept my interest every time - I liked this idea that they had this secret club that dealt out its own justice.

As for the final 'special episode': since it involved all the girls again as it's a prequel to the series, I didn't fully get it as I couldn't place them all as characters. It dealt with one of them having a date with a boy which was forbidden in their 'club', but that was about as far as I got it.
The main series I could follow quite well, even though there is a lot of information given (and there were some subtitle problems, where subtitles only flash shortly on screen and you don't have full time to read them). The end explains the reason for their abduction and who was behind it, but doesn't resolve everything, so I suppose there is more to come.
