I own StephenKingMessageBoard.com. I just let it sit there, and won’t do anything with it until after the SKMB here is shut down (or Ms Mod offers me something in trade... hint, hint ;)). Interesting the perception it gets out in the business world even though it is a non-functioning website. I get all kinds of novelty promotional stuff sent to me in the mail. Funny sometimes how perception, without substance, has such influence.
The only thing we get are offers to build web sites. :smile2:

I get those, too. I also get offers to do marketing. I have also gotten pens, a really cool pen with the website name etched into it and the tip is a smartphone touch pad, notepads, and a stress ball (which I’m sure our mods here could use at times). And even one offer to buy the site. :)

All this can be yours, Ms Mod. You know the price. ;)

Why do you own this? Isn't this just as bad as the FAKE stephen king on Amazon profiting from Stephen's success? Every little perk you get is on the back of our Stephen, no hard work on your part other than to grab up the domain name and sit back and ride his name.

Just asking your motivation.

No, because no profits will be made off of it as long as the message board here is in existence. And I do not market or solicit anything. I checked it out once and saw it was available, and didn't want it to fall into the hands of someone who could abuse or profit from it. Plus $9.99 wasn't all that much to protect the integrity of the brand in my eyes. And if Ms Mod wanted it I would be more than glad to sign it over to King. A signed copy isn't all much to ask, is it? And you know, me... Always trying some way to wrangle a free signed copy. :)

Anyway, who's to say those perks don't come from the other Stephen King. ;)

head over to goodreads.com. heh! there's some reviews there...i looked at "awaken"...and sounds like the reviewers, ummm, believe? this is the real mccoy, or what? some bog-trotting irishman? is that wrong? probably. in all manner of ways. and means. could have some fun with this. tired of all this election malarkey.

i stole that from....shhhh! (our host)...don't recall the story, but he used the phrase somewhere. don't tell anyone! don't wanna get in trouble.

goodreads.com is owned by amazon, i believe. been a member there since...2010 i think...and i recall some hullabaloo when the original owners/creators of the site did whatever with amazon. though they apparently retain their jobs? the few reviews i looked at for that "awaken" had several that indicated the reviewers thought the real stephen king is the author, had other reviews that indicated otherwise. i'd read one of the stories just to see what gives, if anything, but for the most the reviews are such that unless the story is free i wouldn't want to spend time on one.

business for me, wanted to start a webpage seven eight years ago, 'cause i wanted to give a certain window company a run for their money. i learned i could not use my real name, that this major window manufacturer had registered a gadzillion names and even though one vowel in our name is different, made no difference, they had registered that variation, too. that is why i am a super-hero...but just local, not national or anything. i do have a website but it's no great shakes...just enough info to give potential customers some information. (related to what dio posted)

don't know if goodreads provides a head-s-up about "this stephen king is not thee stephen king". they do, do that, for others as apparently there are more than a few writers who share the same name. i think it's crazy that some of those who have read steppenking think they've read the real thing. but then...no! don't say it, walt!

Here's some back story...

We've been email Amazon about this for years, and for the majority of them, we were completely blown off. Within the last year, I was able to get them to actually create a separate author page for "Stephen King" and then briefly change the other guy's name to Stephen L. King (which is his middle initial, as far I can tell).

Amazon has since changed the majority of his books back to "Stephen King."

I noticed another Stephen King domain for sale recently. I just tried to track it down and found this

Jordan -- re the post in News:
Update: We've now heard from many people that Amazon is additionally email-marketing these other "Stephen King" books to people who have bought books by Stephen King in the past.

I have experienced this on more than one occasion. I even PM'd Marsha about the email. Not sure if she has a copy, as I have recently cleared my emails and PM's. That is a major complaint- the email lists "the other" SK books and mixed in are the real SK books. Deceptive! I will save any future emails.
