I know this takes place between Wizard and Glass and Wolves of the Calla but I'm having a bit of a quandary.

Right now I am engaged in reading everything King wrote in publication order. This includes reading the DT books split apart by the books published between them. This one, though, I am not sure whether I should stick to my guns or if I should just go ahead and read it before I start Wolves.

Would it hurt to be read out of order?

No problem to read it out of order, as stated by Cowboy, it's a stand alone book. Just think of it as going home for a family reunion. Sitting down with old friends and enjoying a few tales.
...great time of year to read it, put some logs in the fireplace...find a fire video on your phone or something...this is indeed a campfire yarn....

If you haven't read The Dark Tower series before, I'd call it DT 4.5 and read it in order after Wizard and Glass but before Wolves of the Calla. It just adds to the whole Dark Tower experience, which is amazing btw. Long days and pleasant nights sir.

I read the initial seven volumes. Sorry, I should have made that clear. I kinda started disliking King for a while (forgiveness please!) because of the way the series ended and a few other things. But unlike other authors I've soured on, his stuff never really became less important in my mind.

Okay, so question officially answered, and thank you to all. I believe I will read this one where it lies.
