Do many of you listen to his books or read his books? And for those who do both, which do you prefer?

As I do a mixture of both, I read at times and listen at other times but I seem to get more out of the book when I read it but there are times when I listen and it is so amazing.

Generally, I prefer audio books if I'm rereading one of his books. Most of his are very well done. Christine, IT, and Nightmares and Dreamscapes were some of my favorites. Carrie, too. I haven't listened to Pet Sematary yet.

There is something about the feel of a book in your hands. When I was working I drove a long distance and audiobooks where a lifesaver. An author reading his own book is priceless.

It's a mix for me, I listen to an audiobook while I'm working but when I stop for lunch I'l read a short story or two for the half hour I'm sitting down, I normally have a couple of books in the boot of the car in case I forget to bring anything with me. I do like the readers who have performed on SK'S audiobooks but I much prefer when he performs them himself,.

I feel Pet Sematary was done well on the audio. And I am currently listening to misery (I switch between listening and reading) and it has been pretty crazy at times from the audio

Have you listened to Needful Things? As I heard he reads in that one but it got a mixed reaction online. Some people loved it while others wish they hired a pro audiobook person. But I haven't listened to that book so I can't judge right now.

Definitely prefer reading an actual book

the audios I have of SK reading are on cassettes-- that dates my age! To me, personal opinion, an author reads his words as they were meant to be heard in the readers mind. I completely enjoyed them. Frank Muller is my next fav or Sk audio book.

I've lately wondered what the criteria is for SK when it comes to deciding which of his audiobooks he will narrate himself, is it schedule and time constraints that influence his decision or does he just select particular books that he enjoyed writing more than others? If possible can you shed some light on it Ms. Mod?

It's all of that but also that he'd rather be using his time for writing new books than reading the old ones. :)
