I just got back from an early screening of the new Spielberg movie, "Ready Player One", based on the novel by Ernest Cline. In a nutshell, it's a story about dystopian future where a huge virtual reality game is being played on a global scale, with real world consequences, as well as a love letter to/condemnation of our addiction to pop culture (specifically "geek culture", think video games, movies, etc).

Anyway, of most interest here to Stephen King fans is (major spoiler here):
an extended sequence that takes place in the Stanley Kubrick version of The Overlook Hotel! Yes, after 38 years we get to go back into the Overlook, and it's quite disorienting but pretty spectacular, especially if you're a big fan of the Kubrick movie. Not only that, there's some discussion of King's dislike for Kubrick's adaptation--in fact, it's used as a clue in the overall game.

Recommended for fans of Spielberg, 80's pop/geek culture, and video game enthusiasts. I can't vouch for how faithful it is to the book because I haven't read it...yet.
