I don't get how Stephen King would allow the publishers to put the rubbish covers they put on some of his books of late. The one for Carrie is atrocious and the Salem's Lot on is not much better. I think the younger generation has better taste than some of those covers. I was at K-Mart and noticed them.
I'm not sure how much control he has over that. Even in his first few hardback sales in the 70s he made known his aversion to some of the covers.

I don't mind it, I think it is pretty good. The only thing that I would say might detract from it is the 'Number one bestseller' tag. It removes the idea behind the cover and also everyone knows who he is and it was a best seller so why put it on? It's a hundred times better than those other ones. What's going on with the tear drop coming out of the eye on the covers of Carrie and Pet Sematary?

I agree about the covers. I know the old saying is never judge a book by its cover, but it needs to be visually intriguing to attract the attention of the casual browser. The recent set of covers have been the total opposite. If I didn't know what the books were actually about I certainly would be put off by those designs and wouldn't bother picking them up to check them out.

As far as minimalist covers go that one's not to bad. Generally speaking, I'm not a fan of them though, I much prefer a good graphic, colourful cover like my original paperback - I had to get a 2nd one because of the condition of my 1st, I like it too much to have it fall apart.

I had the red hardback with the clown face in the warped house for a bit but gave it away when I found the paperback - the hardback was just to big and awkward for a reading copy.

This is the current UK cover

I still prefer my original paperback cover.
