In my humble, but honest opinion, I believe readers should start with the Dark Tower series. I recall King once referred to the DT series as the Jupiter in his literary universe.

And through this series, you will naturally know what to read subsequent to DT(ie., IT, Hearts in Atlantis, Insomnia, Salem's Lot... to next a few).
Welcome to the Board!

I respect your opinion but for me personally I did not know the Dark Tower series even existed before joining this Board. I started with Carrie and read SK books through the 70s and 80s but somehow stopped after Gerald's Game came out and I am not sure why.

Just glad to have reconnected again, starting back in 2012 with 11/22/63

By the way - Welcome! :rugby::cheerful:

Read Night Shift. As much as Stephen King's writing has evolved and expanded, Night Shift will remain iconic for me. It was my first Stephen King book and I was so young I picked out all the shortest stories first. Particularly, read the story Night Surf in that collection. Then read The Stand.

Since you have already read IT, also read Gray Matter in the same collection.

As you read more you will find that there is a Stephen King universe. Almost all the books have connections in one way or another. The similarities and connections will delight and surprise you. Kurban gave the best answer, but really dive in any way that takes your fancy.
