That is officially one of the nicest things I've ever heard! I'm framing that comment for proof, just in case I forget ;;)
I couldn't look at the pics that night and judging by the sluggishness of my touch typing right now, I'll wait.
There's been a "hack", evidently. Apps aren't working.
Aawww theyre deserving words, I would say it again. :smile2:

N_N, I missed the Universe contest, or forgot ... if I don't write things down I forget them, and even then, if I don't review what I've written regularly, I forget that too....

So you're saying, Nome, that we can get steampunk'd sometimes if we let unhappy critics convince us our worst, or even imaginary, faults and aspects are all that we are, or all that anybody else sees?

13 years later. ... taking stories in entirely new directions shakes the best, unexpected responses out, both from yourself and from the other writers .... join us next time, Maddie ......

I know what you mean. Rise above it. They go low, you go high. Even disassociate from settings that trouble you. I cant really put myself in book clubs or structured storytelling unless its just frivolous because it should always be fun and enjoyable. I did something once that probably pissed someone off in a group story but I really didn't know what else to do, though it seemed I did it on purpose to them surely, I liked the way the story had started, then two more writers went before my turn, and by the time it got to my turn, it was all about cars blowing up and fire was everywhere and people were running and screaming, and you know what I did? I went right in there and for my chapter I put '13 Years Later'..... and started the whole thing over where I wanted it, lol, that was hilarious though, awesome story it turned out to be!

Oh wow, when did this happen? I can imagine!

Ebdim, I'm not sure about the use of your adverb there, but I'll go infer from the context that it means something like "jaded".
Is that what it sounded like I was saying?
I don't know that I've ever allowed anyone to effect my self esteem to that extent, aside from my myself. Since I spend the majority of my time in my own company, I have to be confident that I'm a good person with good intentions. I know where I excel and I'm aware of my actual flaws. (There are a few)
That was meant in a jocular way, for those of us who take every thing as a concrete statement.

It occurs to me that my use of the term "gas lighting" may have been misunderstood. It's when other people fuel a delusion, either by solidifying or contributing to it. An example would be kids playing an elaborate prank on someone, making them think they've gone crazy, or that reality has in fact skewed itself.
The key here is intent. Maliciously doing this is gaslighting. Orson Wells did this on a massive scale; in my opinion toying with the given constructs of radio broadcasting is dangerous and amoral. Human beings were not made to be a subject for Wells' imaginative experiment.
Now that I've carefully prefaced that with "in my opinion", I'm curious: what do those of you currently in the radio business think? Anyone familiar with War of the Worlds?

Spideyman could probably give a link, if the archives are still available. Way too much fun to read. (It was right before I joined, I think) Mr. SK had asked for photos of all Sk everyday things. Winner was chosen by him.

All kinds of photos from street signs, to laundry mats. I still find myself still looking at signs, for a private chuckle.

What She said was astronomically inspirational not to mention extremely impressive and then You took it all and put it very simply and yet brilliantly into one sentence! Thank you for showing a positive side to 13 years later, cause it was still there after all it just became a reflection to the past and back story (very quickly lol) it did end up in a much more mysterious place at least. and , Thank you for the Invitation. :smile2:

Nomi, when you get punked on one of those shows, for example they convinced people that their friends were being abducted by aliens, creating and enforcing a delusion, until they finally admitted otherwise, I was playing off of the gaslights you'd see in a steampunk story with the meaning of the word itself by turning it into steampunk'd ....

Spideyman, Dana Jean N_N, doowopgirl, I remember that now .... yeah .... I'll have to go and look through it again... whose macaroni art was it?

Maddie, just take it in any direction you want ....the only way to remain ahead of the cliches is to mutate what's come before....

And you're right, I do tend to shorten down and simplify things these days, rather than writing longer passages at a sitting ...
