OK so I know they are companion books, and I know they were released around the same time, but which one should be read 1st? Is there an order that makes more sense, avoid spoilers etc?
I have not read the Regulators yet but I just got Desperation out of the local library on an audio book, read by Kathy Bates. So far, not too bad! (This is my first audio book).

I'm reading Desperation right now and I watched Misery last night with Kathy Bates. How weird is that?

Edit - I mean - Kathy Bates wasn't at my house - not like that, but that she's in Misery. I think I'm tired or too much wine. You understand, right?

I read the Regulators right after Desperation and TBH I wish I'd waited a while - as mentioned before the characters are changed around a bit and I found it a little confusing for the first half of the book

Defenitely Desperation, it's much ... deeper than The Regulators, imo. May be this is because I read Desperation first. Sometimes I'm rereading Desparation, but The Regulators I read just once.

I actually think it matters which you read first. At least i liked the one i read first best and then, when i switched, was used to the characters there and when they popped up in totally different roles here i was confused and didn't get into the story at the beginning. I thought this ploy created unnecessary confusion since it wasn't explained at the time what the point was.

Desperation first, then Regulators. Regulators references Desperation but I don't believe the reverse is true. SKMB Constant Readers will correct me if I am wrong.

Like most people have already said, it does not matter in which order you read them. Both go hand in hand and both were released on the same day.

....he's not implying that one was released before the other, but simply offering his suggestions as to which one to read first....

The post I meant to reply Neil W)to said:

"He wrote Desperation first. I enjoyed them both. I read Desperation first but preferred The Regulators"

And my reply was he wrote both at the same time.
