I think this movie should be remade along with Rose Red, The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer, Sleepwalkers, Christine, Cat's Eye and the Langoliers. I think they are excellent candidates for a movie adaptation! Does Stephen King read these by the way? I am new here, just wondering.

I thought John Carpenter did a good job on Christine, my only quibble would be it needed some scenes of LeBay's ghost in the car, but apart from that I thought the cast were good and the effects were pretty good. Wasn't a fan of The Langoliers when I saw it first, I keep meaning to give it another spin.

This is essentially the remake (or re-filming) of the original story with Burt and Vicky:

I haven't seen it for a while, but at the time I preferred it to the 1984 Fritz Kiersch film which I was never fond of - although the sequels I always enjoyed as guilty pleasures and I particularly like part 4: The Gathering, probably because it has Naomi Watts and Karen Black, so there's a little more to it in terms of acting.

I agree about Christine. I wouldn't mind a remake, the Carpenter film is slick but it just isn't scary. Carpenter said he didn't know how to make the car scary.

I also would like a remake of Firestarter. I like the original film, but Barrymore's acting is not very good and there is a superficial feel to the film. Still, pretty much all the fire effects are real and it's got a fantastic turn by George C. Scott and a wonderful Tangerine Dream soundtrack. I think the problem is apart from Scott as Rainbird nobody stands out. I did a more extensive review in the section of the film. I think it had a lot of potential and I'm very fond of it, but it just isn't quite what it might have been.
