Okay okay, so it wasn't really him but the guy playing him did a good a job and really looked like him. Henry Selick said King really was going to appear in the movie at one point but then the whole thing with the van happened.

Best scene ever: SK asking for a nightlight and Edgar Allan Poe calling him a pussy.

Not quite the way it happened--at least about the accident being the reason he didn't do it. He thought about it but decided he didn't want to take the time out of his schedule. They sent clips of two actors for him to choose between to do the part and that's the one who got our (Steve asked our opinion, too) votes when we watched them at the office.
