I was listening to some Marlene Dietrich this morning over a cup of coffee and i was curious, does anyone think Rose's appearance specifically the Top Hat was inspired by Marlene Dietrich?

For some reason I thought all of the "bad guys" would be sort of trailer trash looking people. I thought they were supposed to blend in with normal people, and if they were in Holbrook, they almost definitely would have been trashy. Nearly everyone in this county is low.

woops, sorry. the KOA camp had to have either been in Holbrook or Globe. The highway mentioned in the book either runs from Globe to Show Low, or Holbrook to Show Low. Strangely it looks as if each path has the same highway number. Maybe it's one continuous road. Either way, pretty groovy that the book that convinced me to go back to reading contains a reference to the general area in which I live. That Stephen King, whatta guy.

I don't know why but I pictured Rose the Hat as beautiful coffee skinned black model. High cheekbones and a smooth sexy way of walking. AKA Trya Banks or Nhenna Agba. An all knowing oracle of grace and fully away of her effect on others. She could walk into a room and no one else would matter to those already there. Sleek, self assured and comfortable in her own skin she would assess the others and then take them or leave them as she saw fit.
