My favorite novel is "Salem's Lot." And, I really enjoy reading and, now, rereading "The Stand," but... I haven't been more excited for a SK movie, since ever, I guess! Had the opportunity to see an early screening of the new film, last week, and I LOVED it! Even though I knew the "who's gonna die/who's gonna live," it was still creepy AF. Without spoiling it, which I'd never do to people, I must say... The child actors are fantastic! Skarsgard is NOT Tim Curry, but his Pennywise is terrifying. Kinda like people argue Nicholson/Ledger "Joker." They're just different.

I will DEFINITELY go see it, again. Hope to catch some stuff I didn't the first time. Highly, highly recommended.

Some of you won't believe me, and that's ok. If you're dying to know stuff, message me. I'd rather not spoil great scenes, but I'll field questions, as best I can.

Welcome, and I find this encouraging! I'm especially happy the child actors seem to be good; I'm mighty attached to the Loser's Club and wish to see them do it justice! B)

My only question, and I don't want spoilers, is if they story of the Losers is intact, i.e. the interesting stuff about childhood and their interaction with the world around them. The clown will take care of itself. The book is so much more than the monster, and my biggest fear is that they wouldn't catch that lightning in a bottle of the kid's story.

In a word, "yes." Much like in the novel and, subsequent, mini-series, The Losers Club members are given "loser" backstories. Albeit, some are longer and more detailed than others, and some are intertwined with their Pennywise "experience."

This is exciting to me. I think there's so much lost in translation from book to movie (in many cases anyway) that it will be very encouraging to see it at least be attempted. Like others said, there's so much more to this story than a group of kids vs. a killer clown! I'm re-reading the book now and I've forgotten how wonderfully and deliciously in-depth the story goes, and how deep into the minds of the Losers we really get to go.

The embargo just ended and the showing the critics got seems to be getting rave reviews. As I said when discussing the Dark Tower, a studio usually knows if they have a winner or a loser. Releasing the film to the critics and letting them talk a week before the official opening generally means they feel it will be well-received. I'm feeling as good about this one as I felt bad about the other.

Meeeee tooooo!

Planning to go with my son. My husband does not want to see it. (Also, germaphobe in a theatre is not a good idea. I pick and chose what I ask him to try to join me.)

I'm feeling really good about my initial reaction! It feels good to be right, sometimes. I knew people would love it! And, as I said, even knowing who was *supposed* to live or die, the movie was still "creepy AF."

Another week! Can't wait to hear what everyone thinks! Get that sequel cranking!
