We use a third iteration, “Lightnin’ bug”..lol

When I lived in southern Arkansas everyone called them “Yella Tails”, but I’ve never heard that since I’ve been up in NWA.
Firefly = highlands speak... Lightnin' bug = lowlands speak.

A few actual Canadian-isms
Washroom: Used almost exclusively in Canada, this is the general term for what would be called a "toilet" or "lavatory" in Britain, and a "restroom" in the United States.
Chesterfield: Although it's usage is on the decline, this is an elaborate Canadian word for couch.
Pencil crayon: Elsewhere in the world, these are called coloured pencils.
Bunnyhug: Used mainly in Saskatchewan to refer to a hooded sweater.
Drop the gloves: As most Canadians can probably tell you, this slang term for starting a fight is derived from hockey

If you are going to show a Boston Bruins player getting whacked in the face at least make the sure the pic shows a Montreal Canadian doing it! It gives us another reason to dispise the Habs!

That reminds me..... one of my brother's very best friends moved here from Massachusetts when they were in high school. He kept telling us that he loved peanut butter and fluff sandwiches. It took me a month to figure out that fluff is marshmallow creme.
