Anyone else disturbed by the idea that the video likely violated the man's right to privacy? I mean look at the angle it was taken. I think it's been established that the man is a jackass. But it is still disturbing the way society has come to view privacy. You see it all the time...how many photos are there of someone's backside, unflattering, and that is the intent. To demean and belittle someone or some thing. I think it's disgusting.

He sorta asks for it because his behaviour is so crazy. Anybody with a cellphone would be tempted Walter. If you are in public office, expect this kind of attention. Politicans should at least LOOK respectable even if they are not.

I can see both sides because I know what it's like to try to have a private life when you're in the public eye and he was on his own time as he says. BUT in his case, he's running for public office and clearly has a history of addiction that has to have a bearing on how he does his job and in that case I think the public has a right to know that he hasn't changed his ways.

Look at the different takes on the various invasions of privacy in the past. Nixon resigned the presidency due in part to the break-in at the Watergate and the missing 18 minutes of conversations he taped...I think I read/heard that people knew there was a recorder...but I don't know if all who talked knew that was true. Fast forward to Romney's 47% or whatever it was. I don't know if the video that played with it was true or simulation...but I don't believe I heard anyone say anything about privacy there. Ironic, given Nixon's fate. A year or two earlier, what was it, Climate-gate...emails hacked...whatever, made public. Don't believe anyone did any time for that or if they even know exactly who did it. The NSA? They seem to have access to all...and investigative journalists have founds thousands of...wrongs...committed by NSA with the data they have collected. Then with the Internet there's a proliferation of photos...selfies...okay, fine...but look at all the negative photos of "Walmart shoppers" that may or may not be "Walmart Shoppers"...or any of the other myriad number of photos out there. In that book/story series about...whatever it was...the girl who played with fire...computer hacking is portrayed as okay...means to an end.

Say like that calendar of barns you have hanging on the wall. Those barns have a value. To the farmer who maintains them. Who owns the value of the view of the barn. You? The public? The farmer, who maintains them? And yet one can capture an image of that barn, sell it for monetary gain, and the farmer has no clue. Has his privacy been violated, his property rights?

Just like the image of the good mayor here...waiting for his chicken salad...it's fairly obvious the video was taken on the sly...everyone is a spy anymore. I thought I read/heard a report that the mayor's...public opinion poll is doing fine. Maybe I heard wrong? Or has he otherwise done okay?

You definitely have a point IMO Walter, people have absolutely no control over what others will/can do with media. It's scary--but it is the world we live in today.

and then too...if armed men of any sort enter the building...watch their feet closely.

say like whenever the news reports on the law. You'd get the impression that it is not the lawbreaker in the wrong, but the law-enforcer as they are usually in blackface and the camera stays on their feet, black boots rushing a building. what's up with that? their privacy is delicate, indeed, protected. Ours?
