So I loved this book, creeped me out in all manner of ways. But who else found that bit with the space cowboy standing in the corner of the room extremely creepy? I felt lulled into a false sense of security and then BAM, I was terrified. It's the creepiest line I have ever read by him.

I read this when it came out. I remember telling my sister what the book was about, and she couldn't sleep simply because of my summarizing the book. The space cowboy was terrifying. The rattle of the bones and him never speaking. Man, I love this book! LOL

Yes, that's the single scariest thing I've ever read, and I'm not a sissy. I'm almost never actually scared when I'm reading anything or even when watching any movie. So that passage in Gerald's Game was a special experience.

I've said in other threads that the Space a Cowboy is SK's scariest character in my opinion. It's been a number of years since I've read Gerald's Game and just the thought of the Space Cowboy creeps me out. I've done one reread of the book and don't think I could do another just knowing I'll have to read that passage!

....he is an undersung villain, no doubt-that short passage sold the novel for me.....
