Sounds like this is going to be a winner. I hope he gets a lot of new readers with it. Long way off, though. And the funny thing is, you really don't want to wish for the time to fly fast so you can get the book because then you are wishing your life away. You actually have to wish for the days to go slow. What a conundrum. Maybe there's a horror novel in that -- what if a reader is a fan of a writer but doesn't want to wait for the books to be published, he wants to somehow use a device like Adam Sandler used in "Click" to get it fast while at the same time not losing any of his days? Maybe he somehow acquires a supernatural power that alerts him when the writer gets the idea for the next book, because as soon as the writer gets and holds on to the idea, he can make the book appear from the future. But he has to do things for this to happen. Nasty things. And maybe it turns out the writer was doing the same thing, and two people can't be doing it at the same time, and the writer pays a visit. Then again, I'm sure someone has already gotten a similar idea. Back to the drawing board.
On the issue of a Misery similarity: on a re-read of the description, I don't think it will be too similar -- be funny if that book actually exists in this world, and the antagonist maybe humorously refers to it during an internal monologue -- but I will say that I too thought about the earlier book, and to be honest, revisiting a bit of that poisonous well might actually be engaging.
