I'm confused. We have this thread going and I was thinking you're also added to the list to do the Secret Santa. Am I misunderstanding?
I may be misunderstanding too- but I think arista wants to start a thread just for the Secret Santa participants(which she is already part of), so those members can post "ideas" of what they might like. Sometimes it takes a lot of time to go back to ck on your giftees posts etc/ so a list might be helpful. I think we did that in the past? Gave each other ideas.

I just want cold hard cash (kidding!) - by the way it does make it easier but I like stalking I mean researching my giftee by going through old posts - maybe not everyone has that much time to kill however.

This Christmas please may I have an end to all suffering?
Prosperity for all...

Also, some dark chocolate. David Bowie's resurrection, (not a zombie, completely healthy... no weird SK strange stuff) and a bunch of money so I can get Deejers on the same plane as Marsha in 2022.

Sorry, but had to edit the political comment. Don't want things to go off in a Hot Topics direction.
"Every act is political and, whether one is conscious of it or not, the presentation of one's work is no exception. Any production, any work of art is social, has a political significance. We are obliged to pass over the sociological aspect of the proposition before us due to lack of space and consideration of priority among the questions to be analysed."

You weren't around for when we had the Hot Topics forum but it could get quite heated and most of us have no desire to return to those discussions. It's much less stressful being a moderator since it was shuttered.

There was actually a forum called Hot Topics? Fantastic idea, but I can understand why you would want to close it.

Yes, it was originally started so that we could segregate all the political, religious and other sensitive topics into a dedicated area so discussions wouldn't spill into the usual posts. That way people who didn't want to get involved wouldn't have to read them. After a few years, though, it took its toll on moderators and Board members so with Steve's permission and blessing, we shut it down. The rule now is no politics or other discussions that would have normally gone into Hot Topics are allowed.

I'm laughing at the idea of people getting into heated political debates on a Stephen King forum! :) I assume it was Stephen's idea to have the section in the first place? Considering it was him that said it was okay to stop it. I get that Stephen enjoys his politics on twitter, which are usually hilarious, but I often wonder why he talks about that stuff, because surely some of his fan base wouldn't like it. But you have to remember that Steve has a constitutional right to say what he wants, god bless America (salutes the flag). :)

No, it wasn't his idea to start a Hot Topics forum but I did ask him before stopping it because I know his views on censorship and didn't want him accused of it. He wasn't the one who had to deal with it here, though, and he knew how soul-sapping it could get from discussions we'd had over the years. He's not afraid of making his political views known but his giving the thumbs up to stop had more to do with how it affected the moderators who were dealing with it here on a daily basis.

And now, back to Secret Santa Wishes.
