In the spirit of reaching across the aisle for the next couple of years. I'm not sure I can hold off retirement for the entire four of this election cycle.
The next election cycle will start in a little over a year. An Elizabeth Warren presidential run in 2020 is already getting a lot of buzz. Wouldn’t you want to stick around for that?

Guys, I know you've gotten this a hundred times, but I need to write to Stephen King...

Sorry.

<--- clears throat.

Hi, I'm Scott Terry. Stephen King's novels have been a naughty presence in my life since the sixth grade when I snuck "The Talisman" off my grandmother's shelf without my parents' knowledge or approval. I've been writing just as long, although owing to a gloomy outlook, was convinced to give up fiction for the boring world of academia (with all its citations and passive voice).

I've just read King's "On Writing" however.

I've got a lot to say to him about it and a lot to thank him for. A quick googlin' lead me to these forums and, well, now I feel like just another one of the myriad of cliched, anonymous fan-boys, looking for a quick way to get his address. In my defense, he orders us to write to him. He lays out a formula where a wife hears her husband's menacing footsteps in the hallway. "Now, reverse it!" he says. "Send it in to me."

Well, he wrote that a long time ago. Times have changed. I get that.

I'm thinking I have two options then:

1. I'm curious to know what a forum of King fans will be like, so, maybe, haunt the place for awhile? Make friends? Swap anecdotes? The FAQ says King drops in from time to time, maybe I can catch his ear?

and / or

2. Write my letter and post it here, in the forums, for all to see, including Mr. King, should he stumble on it. I had a few humorous anecdotes of a personal nature I wanted to share, but hell, maybe a forum of King fans would appreciate them as much as he would (if at all)?

I think, maybe, a little of both?

....I think you'll find this band of Constant Readers quite affable and literate, also whimsical and humorous-even occasionally cantankerous and moody-but always welcoming and wonderful....stick around-share the anecdotes and enjoy the camaraderie, but don't expect to hear much from Steve......to borrow from and paraphrase H. P. Lovecraft, he's "The Lurker On The Threshold".......
