true, actually, i was really impress to the new IT adaptation (i watched it with my friend) because it was scary for me (and for him, my friend)
I'm not sure which series you are referring to,(on second look I see the you are in the 11/22/63 thread, shame on my stupidity....I didn't finish watching it, but I didn't think it was terrible) but Stephen King has every right to allow adaptations to be made. As far as I know, he retains large percentage of creative control over his adaptations. He has been known to say even he isn't crazy about how some have turned out, but the fact is, some people do not read. Stephen King is a creative genius (in my not-so-humble opinion), and the world has a right to see his creations come to life on screen! Visual media is an an important medium for art in today's culture. Books are great, but the amount of work that goes into an adaptation is staggering, and is art in its own right. Some miss the mark, but others invite a whole new audience into the universe we love so much.for selling out to Hollywood. I suspect that the high ratings from this series are from those viewers who did not read the book. This bullcrap series bastardizes the story.
Writers like Diana Gabaldon, who hold out for the perfect cast, writers, directors, and network to do their books justice deserve a lot of respect too. These authors are able to reach a much wider audience via television and film.
......and have you taken notice of the box office juggernaut that IT has become?
I get a little defensive when someone shames my favorite author, sorry.

Sometimes it comes out good and sometimes well it makes you wonder why it turn out that way. But I find if you don't like a movie our show don't watch it. But if you know someone that like show or movie and you like the book better then turn them on to the book. Not all his stuff turn out bad on tv or movie. I always found it has way to get to new people.
How silly! Why would Sk be ashamed for what TV and moviemakers make of his books? What he is great at is writng books
so he writes books. When he sells the rights it is not in his hands anymore. Of course he could make the contract different so he had to approve every little detail in the visualizing of the book. When would he then find time to write new books? The Books are there, they dont change. They will always be great. If you dont like the tvseries or movie, dont watch them.

That's probably the best summary of it all. The adaptations of sai King's work are hit-and-miss, and as I haven't seen them all yet I can't judge fairly.
As for 11/22/63...I started it last night, and plan to continue over the weekend. So far, so good.
