Ask me why. I've never been abused (except verbally, few and far between), been married for almost 40 years. Was it worth it? Sure, for my kids. They are my life. They're doing great. Was it worth it for me? Probably not. As a professional who gave up a career, then worked from home, then had to deal with infidelity, then his depression, then his "whatever," I guess I'm now a caretaker for someone who had no kind words to say to me unless he was in his cups. Oh...then, I was the "love of his life." Yeah, dude...no one else would put up with you. We went to counseling. For years. He was (is) a sex addict and therefore not responsible for his actions. Waaah. Jesus H. Christ, how long can someone say "I'm not responsible?"

I wish all the women had stayed in "Our Space."

And before someone says, "Oh yeah...you're a closeted lesbian and hate men," you are wrong. I love men. But they always disappoint. Always.

I think women would make a MUCH better place for themselves rather than doing all this BS to procreate and make a "nice" life for the next generation(s).

Next time around, I'll not do that...but I hope I remember what I've written today. Because men are just different animals (not bad, just reality), and all the women I've known have been the best people I've ever been around.

Eh...what do I know. Just my take on a book that spoke to me.

...wow, that's quite the cynical and harsh indictment on my gender...."always disappoint"....sweeping judgement much?......I am far from perfect, and will shout that from the rooftops, but you don't know me and you don't have any idea about my admittedly few good points....apparently you have some of your own issues beyond what you've shared.....I don't lump all women into one insulting pigeonhole, that's reprehensible....

I have been married for 27 years and have experienced disappointment in our relationship. Nothing major and he is not abusive. But there is so much more than disappointment. I'm sure there have been times I've let him down, too. We have a good strong relationship that isn't all happy dappy running in the meadow. We both work hard at maintaining our relationship. That is the only way it can work. But Kieth Richards said it best. Life is full of ups and downs, you get a flat line baby you're dead.

I would have been the lone holdout. No spoilers.
Almost every woman reading this book would ask themselves this question. For myself I'd want to go back as I have a young male son, and a husband who I adore, and I know he would be hurting if I were gone forever. I don't think I'd be very useful in a new world. Though I wonder, should I vote to stay along with them sacrificing my wants to create a new and better world? It's hard to say.

*sigh* You are such a... a... a Man! :(
Y'all too MarkS73 and carrie's younger brother :(
Mrs. Beasley was merely comparing her thoughts to some of the females' thoughts in Sleeping Beauty. There are a couple male characters in Sleeping Beauty y'all might relate to. They get angry at females' opinions they don't understand rather than trying to understand them :p

"I love men. But they always disappoint."
I find this a horrible statement, personally. If any man came on here and said this about women we'd be cyber-castrated.

I guess we're interpreting her post differently. I didn't think she was making a blanket statement that ALL men were disappointing. I thought she was only referring to the men in her life.

Ummm... ya think???

I don't know lol. Do you think it was intentional from the get-go?

I finally finished reading Sleeping Beauties so I can answer the question Mrs.S posed :)

I would have complied with the collective no matter which side of the tree made me happier.
Moderator , or Tery (if you've finished it) you're going to have to read this one please... I'm trying to avoid spoilers on this book. :biggrin2:

I think there is always going to be some disappointment in relationships...I was married and disappointed by him a lot...unfortunately I stayed to long. Now I am out, was single for a few years and had a blast and met some men who were great fun. I am now in a new relationship with a wonderful man...I know it's new but I also know that this...I have found my puzzle piece. Sure there will be disappointment but that is life not men.
