I wonder when we get some sort of official Dark Tower announcement. How many films will there be, is it still gonna be accompanied by a tv-series?
According to IMDb it is scheduled for February 2017. Hard to believe we will see it in under a year, can they really make it before that time?
I hope they have some overall plan to make something that's finished, so it won't be such a case that when the first film doesn't do well they stop filming altogether (like they did with adaptations like Golden Compass and Eragon), so you end up only having a first part and nothing more. The thing is that when an adaptation seems to 'fail', like Golden Compass and Eragon, it will take ages before a second adaptation will commence (if at all). Only now is there talk of a His Dark Materials series for BBC and we have still to see that materialize (no pun intended).
As for Elba. If Steve is not against it, it's hard to be against it yourself. It's Steve's character. It's a question of 'just wait and see' how he will do. Remember how no-one could imagine Daniel Craig as Bond when he was announced and he was terrific. The filmmakers must have their reasons for casting Elba, and hopefully those reasons will become apparent when we see the film(s).
