The Star Wars prequels, hilarious

Those films are better than most people give them credit for. Are they as good as the original trilogy? No. But they aren't horrible.

Most of the geekdom (which I'm a part of) put the originals on such a pedestal and were so blinded by nostalgia that they forgot to realize that with the exception of The Empire Strikes Back ( the gold standard of all the SW films) these are popcorn movies. The slip from the throne started with the Ewoks in Return of the Jedi. The original script had Wookies instead of Ewoks. They were changed to make it more appealing to kids. ROTJ is still a good film.

I only have 3 problems with the Lucas directed prequels. #1- Jar Jar Binks (enough said). #2- Lucas as a director (this applies to the original Star Wars as well). The stories are solid. George should have let someone else direct. Story is his strong suit, not direction. #3- Emo Anakin. Really, Darth Vader was a whiny, angsty brat as a teen? Obi-Wan and Yoda should have kept him away from that chickenhawk Palpatine!

Revenge of the Sith is actually very good. I rank it even with Return of The Jedi.

Ewan McGregor was great as Obi-Wan in the prequels. As was Christopher Lee.

Of course, that's just my opinion and I could be wrong (to paraphrase Dennis Miller).

I like them and don’t think they’re necessarily “bad”, more of so they’re just real cheesy

After successfully avoiding seeing National Treasure for over fourteen years, Mom and I watched it recently and it was worth it to hear her complain repeatedly, "It's just so cheesy and ridiculous." She watched Deadly Friend and said, "They should be ashamed making such a movie." Of course the all-time winner for so bad it's must-see good is Troll 2.
