Hi, Josh Boone here. I happened to come across this and wanted to say that I never wrote a draft of The Stand with anything but the ending from the book. You are referring to a draft that preceded me, which I actively worked to ensure never got made because it was in no way an adaptation of the book, just fan fiction. I am still working on The Stand and will be making it next as soon as New Mutants opens in April as a limited series. I've been working on it for four years and I promise you it will be a faithful adaptation of the book with an incredible cast.
I have a mint copy of New Mutants #1 if you're interested...

Thank you very much for the update Mr Boone. I sincerely appreciate that you took the time to correct my misinformation, and am very pleased that you are taking steps to rewrite that draft. I wish you success in the new adaptation.

well this was neat to see. welcome, and i must say, i'm kind of intrigued by the new mutants trailer, but also a little thrown, because it seems to go in an unexpected direction for new mutants. assuming you come back here, have time, and are so inclined to answer, did you base it off of anything in particular? just wondering, because while i'm familiar a bit with some of the characters, i'm admittedly not as versed in their story lines as i am with x-men, so i was wondering if there was an actual story line like this.

New Mutants is based on horrific/moody/surreal run by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, who joined the series in issue 18 and illustrated the book through 31. The first film is inspired by the most well known New Mutants story Demon Bear (issues 18-20), which is as horror as it gets. All you need to do is check out the comics if you have any doubts. With that said, this is a big film with powers and superheroics as well, just filtered through a different lens. The stories we plan on tackling in these films are all taken directly from the comics and are some of the most horrific in the X Universe.

Hi, Josh -- great to see you here. When you say "limited series," do you have a feel for the scope yet? 10 one-hour episodes, or something like that?

thanks for answering. i'll have to look those up. i wasn't aware of any storyllines in the x-universe having that sort of theme to them.
