Most likely some affirmative action policy, tickets held aside for the needy and unfortunates. I don't think a reason was given however.
He said he was going to go online to "score a ticket," presumably from a broker. The cost wouldn't matter to him, given his intentions.

I was under the impression that the website he used, "Fantisckets" I think it was called, was a scalping site precisely for people who wanted to get into sold-out shows and events.
