The Shining
I felt these whispers were meant to guide me.
Their voice pulled (a) little trigger inside me..
I fell and someone left, pick up my pieces smashed on the ground..
I fell losing my head, you have left (a) thousand shades of red.

I'm lost the message you left wont save me,
Your face is painted in every wall here,
I felt these whispers were meant to guide me,
their voice pulled little trigger inside me,
i fell and someone left pick up my pieces smashed on the ground
i fell losing my head you have left a thousand shades of red,

Part of me that's full of fear falling down beyond your reach,
Part of me that's full of fear falling down beyond your reach, In a .....that you cant be

I'm a child left in the worst of dreams

Broken Arrow, OK
My submission offers no direct corollary with lyrics or musical tone. I read THE SHINING for the first time in 1983. At the time, Duran Duran were all the rage and I was a rabid fan (I still carry a lot of affection for them to this day). I played my cassette tape of their then-new album, SEVEN AND THE RAGGED TIGER, incessantly while reading THE SHINING. As a result, to this day, the tracks "Of Crime and Passion" and "Shadows on Your Side" immediately make me flashback to that novel. Not sure why it's just those two tracks that have that effect on me and none of the album's others, but the moment they play, there I am again, an eleven year-old boy, trapped, helpless and mute in the Overlook Hotel with poor Danny Torrance.

Roland=Midnight Rider by the Allman Brothers Band
Well I've got to run to keep from hiding,
and I'm bound to keep on riding,
And I've got one more silver dollar,
but I'm not going to let them catch me, no,
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.

And I don't own the clothes I'm wearing,
and the road goes on forever,
and I've got one more silver dollar,
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no,
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.

And I've gone past the point of caring,
Some old bed I'll soon be sharing,
And I've got one more silver dollar~

Bad Company by Bad Company always makes me think of the Battle of Jericho Hill. Desperado by the Eagles reminds me of Roland every time. Don't Fear the Reaper-The Stand.

Over the past few days I've been listening to 'The Sister's of Mercy', Greatest Hits vol 1- A slight case of overbombing. I know most of the songs are from the late 80's-early 90's, but Andrew Eldritch's song's sound like something from a Stephen King novel.

"Lucretia My Reflection"

I hear the roar of the big machine
Two worlds and in between
Hot metal and methedrine
I hear your empire down
I hear your empire down

I hear the roar of the big machine
Two worlds and in between
Love lost, fire at will
Dum-dum bullets and shoot to kill, I hear
Dive bombers, and
Empire down
Empire down

I hear the sounds of the city and dispossessed
Get down, get undressed
Get rid of you and me
We got the kingdom, we got the key
We got the empire, now as then
We don't doubt, we don't take direction
Lucretia, my reflection, dance the ghost with me

We look hard
We look through
We look hard to see for real
Such things I hear, they don't make sense
I don't see much evidence
I don't feel. I don't feel. I don't Feel

A long train held up by page on page
A hard reign held up by rage
Once a railroad
Now it's done...

I hear the roar of the big machine
Two worlds and in between
Hot metal and methedrine
I hear your empire down...

We got the empire, now as then
We don't doubt, we don't take reflection
Lucretia, my direction, dance the ghost with me...

There are the obvious ones, like "Space Cowboy", "Hey Jude", or "Run Through the Jungle". You know, songs that are referenced in SK's works.
But then there's Ozzy Osbourne. For some reason, whenever I hear that voice, it makes me think of Stephen King. Especially "Mamma I'm Comin Home". Dont know why, but that particular song always makes me think of King.
Oh! I'me not sure if anyone has mentioned these guys yet, but the band Wizards and Demons has done some awesome SK inspired stuff. "Seize the Day" is my personal favorite, but they have a few others that are just as awesome. And even for non-King fans, those dudes can rock.

Oops, I saw that I already posted in this thread! Ha! I don't know if I can delete. So will just sing...

"Where do you go when you're lonely
Where do you go when you're blue
Where do you go when you're lonely
I'll follow you
When the stars go..... blue....
The stars go... blue.... stars go blue"

I can delete it if you want... though, the singing was rather nice. :biggrin2:

Amorphis - Sky is Mine lyrics remind me a lot of "Bag of Bones"

From the mystic dream of a nighttime
I saw the clarity of my days
From the gates of longing
Looked for the familiar glow
The death of my wife's slayer
Brought no comfort to me
No shape for loneliness
For a dream

A queen of gold I made
A silver bride I built
From the northern summer nights
From the winter moon
Responded not my girl
No beating heart I felt
I brought no sighs to the silver lips
No warmth to the gold

For me as a body of work Blue Oyster Cult is synonymous with King.. the parallels of writings are too close to ignore. Thank you Sandy Pearlman..

But on a specific level I find that Roland is personified perfectly in Alice Cooper's Desperado...

"Desperado"

I'm a gambler and I'm a runner but you knew that when you layed down
I'm a picture of ugly stories I'm a killer and I'm a clown
Step into the street by sundown step into your last goodbye
You're a target just by living twenty dollars will make you die
I wear lace and I wear black leather my hands are lightning upon my gun
My shots are clean and my my shots are final my shots are deadly and when it's done
You're as stiff as my smoking barrel you're as dead as a desert night
You're a notch and I'm a legend you're at peace and I must hide
Tell me where the hell I'm going let my bones fall in the dust
Can't you hear that ghost that's calling as my colt begins to rust in the dust
I'm a killer I'm a clown I'm a priest that's gone to town

And for Mr. King.. I could perfectly well imagine him as the harbinger of Stormbringer... in another life

"Black Blade"

I have this feeling that my luck is none too good
This sword here at my side don't act the way it should
Keeps calling me its master, but I feel like its slave
Hauling me faster and faster to an early, early grave
And it howls, it howls like hell

I'm told it's my duty to fight against the law
That wizardry's my trade and I was born to wade through gore
I just want to be a lover, not a red-eyed screaming ghoul
I wish it'd picked another to be its killing tool

Black blade! Black blade!
Forged a billion years ago
Black blade! Black blade!
Killing so its power can grow

There's death from the beginning to the end of time
And I'm the cosmic champion and I hold a mystic sign
And the whole world's dying and the burdens mine
And the black sword keeps on killing 'til the end of time

Black blade! Black blade!
Bringing chaos to the world we know
Black blade! Black blade!
And its using me to kill my friends
Black blade! Black blade!
Getting stronger so the world will end
Black blade! Black blade!
Forcing my mind to bend and bend

The black blade
Forged a million billion years ago
My cosmic sword goes on for eternity
Carving out destiny
Bringing in the lords of chaos
Bringing up the beasts of Hades
Sucking out the souls of heroes
Laying waste to knights and ladies
My master is my slave
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Sisters Of Mercy – Dominion/mother Russia Lyrics
In the heat of the night
In the heat of the day
When I close my eyes
When I look your way
When I meet the fear that lies inside
When I hear you say
In the heat of the moment
Say, say, say
Some day, some day, some day - Dominion
Come a time
Some day, some day, some day - Dominion
Some say prayers
Some say prayers
I say mine
In the light of the fact
On the lone and level
Sand stretch far away
In the heat of the action
In the settled dust
Hold hold and say
In the meeting of mined
Down in the streets of shame
In the betting of names on gold to rust
In the land of the blind
Be...King, king, king, king
Some day, some day, some day - Dominion
Come a time
Some day, some day, some day - Dominion
Some say prayers
Some say prayers
I say mine
Some day, some day, some day - Dominion
Some say prayers
Some say prayers
I say mine
In the heat of the night
in the heat of the day
When I close my eyes
When I look your way
When I meet the fear that lies inside
When I hear you say
In the heat of the moment
Say, say, say
Some day, some day, some day - Dominion
Some say prayers
Some say prayers
I say mine
I say mine
I say mine
We serve an old moan in a dry season
A lighthouse keeper in the desert sun
Dreamers of sleepers and white treason
We dream of rain and the history of the gun
There's a lighthouse in the middle of Prussia
A white house in a red square
I'm living in films for the sake of Russia
A Kino Runner for the DDR
And the fifty-two daughters of the revolution
Turn the gold to chrome
Gift ... nothing to lose
Stuck inside of Memphis with the mobile home, sing:
Mother Russia
Mother Russia
Mother Russia rain down down down
Mother Russia
Mother Russia
Mother Russia rain down
