I first read The Shining about two weeks ago and have started on the dark tower series. In the shining there is a section that talks about how Vito Giannelli a mob boss was executed just outside of the presidential suite, danny sees the blood on the wall and more is said about Giannelli when Jack Torrance is in the boiler room reading an old scrapbook.
In the Drawing of the three, Eddie Dean has made it through customs and is outside his hotel when two of Balazars henchmen arrive in a Giannelli pizza van. This point of the book is in 1987, Gianelli is again mentioned along with Balazar when Roland is through the third door. One of the police officers (O'meara i think it was) says that he wants to go after Balazar or better yet Giannelli, this section of the time frame was 1964.
From what i remember a date was given on Giannelli's execution in The Shining i just cant find the specific page in the book.
Bit of a weird connection going on there or maybe just coincidence, maybe i need a tin foil hat.
Has anyone else noticed this, is he mentioned in any other books just like Randall Flagg is?
