Stephen King’s Popularity Is Still Scary

Maybe rock-star treatment for a novelist is proof that the publishing industry isn’t dead yet.

We were happy to discover this photograph in the German magazine Stern, which shows Stephen King being greeted by 3,000 fans in Hamburg. At a similarly camera-happy event, in Munich, he had apparently joked, “Do they realize that I’m not Justin Beiber?” King — the subject of a profile by Susan Dominus in The Times Magazine this past summer — was in Germany to promote his book “Doctor Sleep.”

One of my kids is going to be a German Exchange student next year. I showed her the German interview with Stephen King. Her take... "Dad you look just like Stephen King when you don’t bother to get a haircut. Huh??? But now looking at some of his recent pictures... Hmmm, If he ever needs a stunt double...

Oh, my. I live in Germany, and I did not see that Stern. *cries*
Do you know what issue it is? Maybe I can still find it, somehow.
He made the Bieber comment in Hamburg, too :) He said something like: I feel like Justin Bieber. (Short pause) No, I really don't....

I found it in their online shop! It is still available in the shop at stern.de. The issue is 49/2013, and the front page says "Die Kohls".
It was difficult to find the right one, but Ka wanted me to have it. While I was waiting at the doctors office yesterday, I picked up a Stern magazine in the waiting room. It was the Stephen King issue! I desperately looked for a way to sneak it into my bag, :p but there were too many people there.
But, now I knew what the front page looked like, and that made it super easy to find it in their shop. :)
