You've heard of different fantasy camps: some let you hang out with your favorite professional sports team and even play some scrimmage games, you can go hunting with Ted Nugent, and there are rock 'n roll fantasy camps that even let you jam with your favorite bands!

This got me to thinking...what would a Stephen King fantasy camp be like?

I'm sure you all have some great ideas, so let's hear 'em! (keep it clean, ladies!)

Well, the day would start with me watching Stephen get his words in. Then we would eat lunch, take a walk and he would chat and he would share with me all these really cool stories about people and places that you can't tell just anyone.

After our walk, we would then take a nap. All of this strictly platonic. After lunch, we would watch Molly tear something up. Then I would sit and watch him edit the next project.

For dinner, we would go to some really nice restaurant with great food and I would watch fans act like idiots. We would come back to his house where we would watch old movies. He would have a very nice guest bedroom set up just for me and I would bid him adieu.

Get up the next morning and repeat.

Hmmmmm well it would be great fun if the camp was at his house. It would be fun to just hang out and listen to anything he has to say while eating cheesecake. When it was time for him to get down to work I would amuse myself by trying to freak out fans taking pictures in front of his house- you know....chain rattling ,weird howling,ect.ect.

A Stephen King camp.... hmmm. :hmm:

Day one: Arrive at the airport, disembark and see Stephen waiting at the bag carousel-thingee with a sign. "Over here Flake!"
Ride back to his place on his Harley... yeeey-ah!
Put my feet up on the couch (no shoes!) and sleep off the jet-lag while he tap, tap, taps away at his morning writing. (try to ignore his intermittent bursts of derisive laughter as he kills off yet another character)
Take a tour of the kitchen (mwhahahahahaha) and help him and Tabby make some lunch. Throw my crusts to Molly to stop her from chewing on my ankle.

A long leisurely walk in the afternoon, while discussing past works. (giving him the occasional flick on the arm for killing some of my best lovelies)

Dinner at a restaurant of their choice... and then out to Marsha's place for dessert and coffee--tea for Stephen. (Okay Marsha, if I have to, I will eat something non-chocolate. *sigh* ;;D )

Say goodbye to Stephen and Tabby for the night... stay up into the wee small hours with Marsha watching movies. (poking her in the arm every now and then when she drifts off)

Sleep.

Day two: Stephen picks us in the morning (after 'writing' time) and gives Marsha the rest of the week off. He takes us on a tour around Maine, showing me all of the book sites... and when we stop for refreshments, they bring me up to speed on his next two releases.
After dropping Marsha home, we return back to his place, I play with Molly for a while and then spring clean his book study.
He is so impressed with my work, that he decides to adopt me and thereafter I shall be known as "Flake, the House Elf." (no, I have not read all of Harry Potter and so do not wish to know my fate. Thank you very much... :Oo: )

Listening to him tell funny stories about his younger days while we play his jukebox. Take a gander at his collection of fan art and fan gifts and peruse his old paperbacks and collectible books. Order Chinese take-out and eat with Tabby and Steve while we play cards. Read the beginning of the 'work in progress' and when he's not looking check the attic for hidden trunk novels, Bachman books, sequel to IT. Haha.
Tell him my suggestion for republishing edited version of The Tommyknockers and my idea for a Stephen King board game and website. Take a few selfies and then hit the road...but not until he signs my first edition of Pet Sematary.

Ya know, this could certainly bring in some serious bucks for charity if this was something that could be up for an auction like he did a few years ago with having your name placed in one of his novels and used for one of the characters.......
The risk is what if an Annie Wilkes-type won? That isn't a joke, actually. I know, I know...

A camp involving fishing would be what I'd shell out for. You and Stephen in a boat, no awkward staring or rehashed stories he's told a million times before. Him on one end, you on the other. Casting lines out into the sun. Small radio with some 50s tunes in the background. Feet up. Talking about nature. Metal. Or whatever came up. Nothing about writing. Wouldn't be out all day, though. Just enough time to catch a few fish. Row to shore, shake his hand, thank him for his time, call it a day.

That would beat a formal agenda any old day. :cool2:

I'd love to fish Kezar Lake sometime for smallmouth bass... with or without King... makes me no nevermind. :)
