Rich Chizmar is embarking on a journey. Starting today, he is going to read all of Steve's books (including story collections, non-fiction and Bachman novels) in order and blog about the experience (the blogging part was Steve's suggestion). He expects to cover two or three books a month, which means we're looking at a two-year trek, at least.

I've agreed to write companion essays for each book that provides some historical context. My first one, about Carrie, went live today. Rich's entry should follow in a couple of days.

Very cool :) I loved your essay :) I'm curious... Will y'all try to pretend you don't know other books will follow when you review The Gunslinger?

Bev, out of curiosity, is the intent of this project to collect all the blog postings and turn them into one huge book, with your essays, Chizmar's posts, and all the extras by the other writers (I believe in addition to yourself and Chizmar, there are other people writing essays, but I haven't double-checked the site) included? It would seem to be. And maybe Chizmar could possibly write and include some sort of short story based on this (a blogger who re-reads a bibliography, goes mad in the process, whatever).

At least some of that is the long-term plan. It'll be close to two years by the time we get to the end of this journey at the current rate, so who knows what we'll be up to by then!

By the way, anyone who registers for updates at the site will be eligible to win in the contest they've just announced. One of the prizes is a signed copy of Revival, and there are many other cool prizes, too.
