Just wanted to write a final comment on the board (moderators can move this if necessary to whatever thread may exist for the topic).

Won't be long with this, as unfortunately I have much to do today, but it won't need many words. Wanted to say thanks to everyone with whom I have interacted, especially the moderators and Ms. Mod, of course, and also want to acknowledge all the great posts I have read, in particular the Halloween tales. And I am pretty sure I will sign up for the other board, the weekend playground, as I believe it is called.

Plus, I have to say before I go, a word or two about Mr. King. I think I have said some variation of this previously, but I'll reiterate: The thing I think about lately, after considering all I have read of his work, is how good he really is at his craft. As I get older, and perhaps wiser, I am coming to understand that he may be better than perhaps any of us believe.

I am a hobbyist writer. I have written a fair amount in the realm of being a dilettante (think that's the word I want...yeah, I'm a writer, alright!) in the field, but still, my word-count pales in comparison to other hobbyists, I am sure of it. I've done my best, been published here and there, mostly in not-high-profile venues (although I always appreciate anyone accepting work of mine, and will never look down upon any market or being placed for no compensation, ever), and only on a few occasions, at that. (I do have several stories at one somewhat high-profile platform, and it did lead to consideration of a screenplay by a major network, but that's about the extent of my accomplishments, and writing being a younger man's game, that'll most likely be about it for me; I've switched to experimenting with Wattpad, and I sure haven't made too much of a splash there.) I've done the self-publishing thing, and made about several dollars over several years. As they say, the writing now is just for fun (and that's not a bad thing at all).

The reason I say all this is because - and again, I probably have said this before - as I see King's work from a long-term perspective, I realize he is a master of storytelling, and that my work absolutely pales in comparison. Not putting myself down, certainly, I just point this out because it is interesting to have a reference point of comparison. When I read his stories, such as his latest work If It Bleeds, it dawns on me that I can't even come close. And if you compare his work to others, even writers influenced by him, you realize he has a unique approach that is probably a combination of talent and simple hard work. He is just that good.

And that's what I wanted to say. It's not about me, I'm only the aforementioned reference-point that has opened my eyes to how great King is at what he does. Truly remarkable. I can't wait to see what he does in the future. If I could make a request, it would be for one more short story/novella about Pennywise. That won't happen, and that's okay.

I look forward to checking out other final comments later on. And I thought I saw a thread that said something like "the final person to post is the winner." You know, that would make good source material for a story; what it would be about, I have no idea at the moment, but there is something to it, isn't there?...

Steve seems to have been blessed by God for the gift of storytelling.
