What a nice surprise in what has been a pretty crappy day work wise!

It appeared to be a sweet little pet-adoption story, then Boom!
Of course, I knew something was coming but didn't expect the gator! Thankful that our hero and his faithful sidekick, Laurie, were ok!

Such an evident love for our four-legged friends. Sorry for the loss of Vixen!

Yes, thank you. I liked this story and how it illustrates the impact a pet (a dog, especially) can make on one's life, regardless of age. In the same way people can reach out to comfort someone, dogs, too, can help alleviate a person's grief and become close companions. The descriptions of Florida made me a little homesick. There are several quotable lines, too. I liked the line about
a person's skin being "thinner at 2AM". Lloyd didn't like to look at his deceased wife's photos that early, to be specific. Great line. Oh, and alligators are a very real threat down there so I had no problem believing the events toward the end.

I loved that line too. And it is very true.

Call me sentimental but my eyes stung a bit with tears near the end - that was a lovely story - thank you Mr. King :applause::love:

Haven't read it yet. It says that it's available for download to print out or for reading. Where can I download it? When I click on the link it takes me right to the story with no option to download and print. I would rather have an actual paper copy in my hands as I don't really like reading stories or novels on my computer. Call me old fashioned....

When I clicked on the link it automatically downloaded to my device. It's still there. Have you tried left clicking on the mouse (if you're on a computer)?
