With the weight the concrete will add, make sure that neck has support or it will snap. There is a tilt forward with it and that heavy stuff will stress the neck area while it dries.

the tubing ended up off centre due to the jacket setting to the left. so I had to stick a rod in the tube to hold the 10kg of weight the head now has.

I've added expanding foam into the sleeves to set them a bit sturdier. it started seeping through the cracks already - so it will be funny to see the hanging foam stalagmites tomorrow.

That should support it

that's incredible, Sheemiee! Twenty-two pounds for the head...I guess that is about twice as much as an adult human head weighs. What it the total weight of the figure? Sika spray foam, hey? Had you ever seen anything like this done before? Or where'd you get the idea?

I reckon I've used two bags of cement at 20kg each , for the jackets and jeans . almost two blocks of clay at 4kg each. some chicken wire, and drain pipe fittings, along with my old work boots. all in all id say about 60kg.

I've not seen this done anywhere, it's just an idea I had while cementing fence posts in the back garden and getting my coveralls covered in the quick drying cement dust. then I saw the street entertainers pretending to be statues - wearing coats coated in plaster. so i always wanted to try this out.

the foam seems to be working great, although it's seeping through a bit of the cracks. it's filling the voids left inside the clothing.

try it - you'll be amazed at the result. dip jeans in a tub of watered down cement - then let them set.

when i've done work where i'm coated in drywall dust or concrete splash i usually tell people i'm with the cartel. strangely, nobody laughs. alas. :( so misunderstood. i'd be tempted to try something like that but i don't think i could do a head. course...i could put it on a dolly and wheel it out front of the house every halloween, get in the spirit. amazing work! especially for not having done something like that before.

Hey Sheemiee, was just thinking, right now, there are a lot of halloween skulls out. LIghtweight things. That would be perfect as the base of the clay or cement. Still heavy, but the rod would support that. Actually , probably not as heavy as as the head and chicken wire situation.

Wait, did you already solve this problem?

yeh shaved some clay off the top and hollowed out the skull a bit, so it's less weighty.

drying nicely .
