I so admire SK's ability to place story within a story. At first read, I think wait, I don't want to leave this first storyline, where are we going with this? Then as I get engrossed in the new story, I don't want to leave that one.

Currently rereading (for the umpteenth time) W & G and love the sheer genius of the craft. And the story grabs my heart every time. The quality of yearning, of regret, of bitter sweet memories is so profound. We all have memories of our first love, but very few can describe the rich complexity of emotion.

Another beautiful and masterful example of story within story is the Wind in the Keyhole, I've reread it again and again for the story and for the craftsmanship.

I guess in the meta sense, all the SK/ DT stories are stories within stories, within multi universes of story.

You are exactly right, TWTTK is a stellar example of story within a story....within a story I guess actually. Reading that book was like falling off a cliff into an alternate universe....wonderful book.

In my re reading binges, I am directed to the next story by a random recollection or mention of a character from another novel. In that way I zig zag through the stories again.

As Indigenous First Nations (American Indians to you US folk) teach us, everything is connected and we are all interrelated. This truth is one of the guiding principles of SK's work.

I enjoy these connections and the stories within stories. So glad to meet others who have the same appreciation.

When people kind of look funny or kind of superior when I admit to being a SK fan,(you can see it in their faces)I think of the wind through the keyhole..how perfect of a story within a story within..after all, aren't books, whether history or art or fiction or what have you,all stories? And SK crafted this one perfectly..thank you sir..
