I remember reading somewhere that this story was published by SK in a magazine before this collection came out. Can someone please refresh my memory as to when and which magazine please.
It was first printed in Ubris in the fall of 1969. Ubris was a student literary magazine published by the University of Maine where Stephen was a student.

Thank you for the answer and sorry for not being more clear in my question. One more question if it's not too much trouble. Is the version published first in 1969 very different from the version Gordy "wrote"?
I'd have to find a copy (I think we have one in our archives here at the office) to compare them as I've never read it but I'll be on vacation next week and don't think I'll have time to do that today. Chances are very good that I won't remember this, so feel free to remind me. That is, of course, unless someone else knows the answer and can post that.

...just have one of the sub-basement minions work on it while you're away...after all, they're between producing stories for Steve at the moment....

Enjoy your vacation! I will remind you in a week or two. :)
