I rekindled my "book-mance" with King in the past five years. (or has it been longer, time waits for no one). My first book back was "Carrie" on audiobook. I think I am having more fun discovering him as an adult than when I was in my teens. I read many of his books back then, but I don't think I fully understood them.
It's nice to see you posting again. How did you like Spacek's narration?

Ooops - :facepalm_smiley: - Can you believe I own a copy of both but to be honest have not read either one yet?

Sorry Kaleidoscopic Kitten :culpability:

(sorry Neesy) - p.s. Tery - guess I've been working out so much the blood is going to my muscles and not my head :tongue-new:

Neesy It's okay I just got confused for a second ;;D You should definitely give them a read, they're both great although I personally think Desperation tops The Regulators. ;-D

When I was 12, I found a paperback copy of Christine in my grandma's bookstore. Having nothing better to do, I decided to read it. I really enjoyed it and started looking into some of his other novels. I read IT next because a friend recommended it, and when I read that scene where Christine appears, I realized that his books all connect. That's the tale of how I discovered my favorite author.

The good old summer of 17 right after 4th of July. I was interested in the previews for the Dark Tower movie, freshly laid off and running out money to play golf everyday. I decided that it would be fun to read the book before the movie ordered a copy of the Gunslinger and read it in a weekend.

Then I read how the movie was not just from the 1st book and more of a sequal to the whole series. So I was compelled to read them all before seeing the movie.

I then barelled through them all and made it to the theater the day after finishing, just before the movie was pulled out about a week after labor day. Journey complete walking out of the theater I see the poster for It. Turned around and walked into Barnes and noble and picked it up and by the end of September was back at the theater.

I was only about 10 years old when the first It premiered and was fully scared in such a joyous way. I was also a fan of Pet Sematary at the time but now where near able to read his books yet. No attention spand back then. I also loved the tv movies/mini series for Tommy Knockers and the Langoliers.

Now Im 19 novels into my journey and feel stuck in quicksand as I want to read more while complelled to re read all but the last book I read.

My first time was just this past month! I read The Outsider and loved it. Admittedly, a few small spots it dragged a bit or over did it self on exposition but it was awesome and I really loved the characters. There was one scene early on involving a barn where virtually nothing happens but I was so on edge as I thought something was about to happen and I didn't realize how much it affected me until after the fact. I've always loved Stephen King movies so I knew it was time I started reading books again. I haven't read a book in years! Now I'm also finished with It. So I plan to read the Bill Hodges trilogy, Doctor Sleep, and Pet Sematary this year before the movie adaptations come (or before I see the series in BH trilogy's case). I'd also like to read The Shining, Delores Claiborne, Misery, and The Stand. And I look forward to sharing my thoughts with this group!!
