At the start of the 3rd part of ‘Hearts in Atlantis’ one of the characters, who prefers to wake to music as opposed to the shrill sound of his alarm, wakes up to the following, excruciating, Christmas Carol;
“Do You Hear What I Hear?”
I must admit that although I’d heard it before, I’d never paid it that much attention - UNTIL NOW that is!
As the guy gets up and goes about his morning routine, he continues to sing the carol over and over to himself, adding in his own extra little verses;
‘Do you hear what I hear, do you see what I see, do you feel what I feel, do you taste what I taste...?!?’
Stop it, please stop it!
Since I read the passage, I just can’t seem to get the song out of my head.
I don’t know whether it’s because I’m suggestable, or just that I’m prone to repeating certain songs and phrases.
Another one, this time a phrase, from HiA is; “Pussy Palace” (sorry). Again, I just can’t stop repeating it (not out loud of course - just to myself!)
Before I go for a lie down, I’m going to get my own back on Mr SK by quoting from the most irratating song known to mankind;
If I say the word; ‘muppets’ at least I’m giving you a chance to cover your ears.
Here goes;
Manamanha, bedee bedubhoo, Manamanha, bedubhoo do, MANAMANHA, bedee bedubhoo, bedubhoo, bedhubhoo, bedha, da, da, da, da.
Close, but no cigar!
