I was wondering if you put one in the freezer for another meal later like I do. Then complain (like I do) about there being no room in the freezer for anything else.... :biggrin-new:
Ohhh, now I get it. No, the one turkey at Thanksgiving is plenty for me. I like roast chicken more than turkey so will do that through the year when I get the urge for that type of meal.

In the UK we have Turkey at Christmas, is this still the case with out American friends?
For Christmas Eve my brother and sister and their families come over and I make Pepper Steak because that’s what mom always made Christmas Eve. On Christmas my father-in-law and brother-in-law come over and we have ham, potato, and green been soup, and put out a big meat and cheese tray because that’s what the wife’s mother always did on Christmas Day. We carry on those traditions. One tradition we don't carry on that the wife's mother did is go to church on Chirstmas Day and get the meat and cheese tray blessed. If we did that the tray would burst into flames the minute I walked into the church. :)

It does seem to be a staple but not as much as it is at Thanksgiving. Ham is also popular but my SO and I don't care for ham so I've switched over to prime rib for the Christmas dinner, with shrimp cocktail as an appetizer and usually mix up the vegetable side dishes, e.g. twice baked potatoes rather than mashed and maybe asparagus or roasted brussel sprouts.

Roast Chicken? With ........dare I say it ........potato salad.......? ((((Exits from thread...can’t bare to look
))))
The wife makes the best potato salad in the world. She is REQUIRED to make it when we go to family functions. She's sometimes told if she doesn't make her potato salad we shouldn't bother showing up. :)

In the UK, turkey is as important for Christmas as it seems to be for thanksgiving in the US. Strange, then again, the Brits shouldn't have tried to tax the Americans on tea!

That sounds good. I'm coming over to your place for Christmas dinner. :)

(and not to start another argument... but it's brussels sprouts) ;):)

Yup, definite typo. My brain and typing fingers have already left the building. :)
I was right about something?

In sweden we always have ham for christmas. A special christmas ham! Turkey hasn't made a breakthrough here yet. And we celebrate christmas on the 24,th, christmas eve. Thats when the big eating, drinking, giftgiving, candyeating and everything else takes place. Christmas day is for leftovers and enjoying your gifts. Some actually go to church......
