That's interesting you mention the Tiger tale, Jimpy...why has that not been collected yet?

I assume he doesn't like it for one reason or another. When Arthur C. Clarke put out a complete collection of all his short stories when he was about 85 years old he had quite a few stories that had never been collected and they generally fell into three categories, stories that were later incorporated into novels, ones that he just didn't like and ones that just slipped through the cracks and got forgotten. Looking at Stephen King's short stories list on Wikipedia he has stories in all those categories too. Let's just hope that we don't have to wait till Stephen is 85 to get them.

We can get them. We shouldn't necessarily be granted them.

I'm not saying we deserve them or anything, in fact I have a veto proof majority of them in print. But, for example, right now I'm at my doctors office where I have to show up 15 minutes early so I can wait even longer to see him. And to fill out the paperwork which takes less tha two minutes. I have hundreds of books on my iPad and thousands of short stories. I'm just saying it would be nice if I could read one of those Stephen King stories that I haven't read for years because I never get the actual books out of my closet any more.

Yeah, it'd be nice to have everything in one volume. I love that certain pieces which have been available individually and in this or that form which I'd neglected to collect are included in Bazaar.

yeah, it's hard to carry around, say, the Arbor House Treasury of Horror and the Supernatural on the off chance you want to read The Crate. I read lots of short stories, and it's sad to say this but one of the best things to happen on the short story front was Ray Bradbury dying. Now most if not all his stuff is out in electronic editions, that wasn't happening while he was alive. I respected his decision, but I'm a little happier now.

Now if we could get Robert Bloch's stuff for the kindle

Well, the story list is officially out and my first impression is I've already read exactly half the stories. But I'm still looking forward to it.

I was hoping for, but not really expecting, to see one or more of his early uncollected tales. I have most of them in some horror anthology or another in book form, or in at least one face, The Night of the Tiger, I've got the original magazine version. But I've gotten book lazy and would like kindle versions.

It is available in The Year's Best Horror Stories Vol. VII in paperback if you can scrounge up a used copy of it on the secondary market.

I'm really surprised Mr. King again passed up the opportunity to finally collect great tales like Weeds and The Crate. I thought they'd show up in this book for sure now that they both have been recently reprinted in several anthologies. Any idea why he chose to keep them uncollected, Ms. Mod?

Marsha is gone for 2 weeks so won't see this question until then. I will tag her for when she gets back. Moderator
