I loved the collection, and as a constant King reader I enjoyed both the stories and the references. However, something has been bugging me about the last story, "the breathing method". The whole birth is described to the tiniest detail, yet there is not one word mentioning the umbilical cord. I know the story is not supposed to be realistic, as a dead, decapitated body can't actually give birth, and yet the lack of the umbilical cord kind of ruined it for me, and I found it harder to focus on the story.. I wondered if there was anything I missed, maybe, or an explanation to the lack of the umbilical cord? Am I crazy for being ridiculously frustrated by this absolutely-irrelevant-to-the-story question?
