I agree! I was just talking about this recently-some authors seem to jerk back and forth, almost as if they forgot something and inserted it wherever they were in the story where they remembered it, leaving the reader bewildered. SK has never done this to me!
See you over in the Song Game morgan - I can only stay on here for about 15 more minutes then I have to go get some sleep - I am going to catch up on the sleep I missed for the last week (insomnia).

Hi - too bad about your phone - I cannot trust mine either.

That was a good comment - I wonder sometimes if that is how our world will end - from us poisoning the earth. It sure looked like it in the 70s before people became more environmentally conscious.
I like to think it will be one big asteroid and it will completely wipe out mankind in a matter of seconds.

Or Perhaps the middle of the planet will explode and we will be burnt in molten lava. Either way, we are done in a flash.

You can never analyze a story too much!

I'll probably have a good deal to say come "Dedication" and "You Know They Got A Hell Of A Band" time....
Have you seen the video of "You Know They Got a Hell of a Band"? It is quite good and you can find it on YouTube (but it is about 40 minutes long).

Hi. Sorry I missed this again but I did get some sleep. Love this story and read it again but didn't take notes.
Favorite parts of story are:
The relationships and characters.
The childhood antics, exploration and compass.
The references to the 'God complex' and that it ends in destruction (think we all hate the atrocities humans force upon others and want it to stop but at the end of the day trying to force anyone to be what we want them to be is just another atrocity)
When reading the childhood antics, remembered comments SK made in notes on Dolans Cadillac re criticisms of technical details - so ok the plane would not fly but this story is clearly fiction, a wonderful story within a story, and if l wanted info on building a glider I'd be reading non-fiction. We both wanted to listen to the radio program.
We have a moutain range here called 'The great dividing range'.It 'divides' the East coast from the rest of the country. When it was named we 'anglo-saxons' were very proud of our 'superiority' and capacity to civilize the barbarians. I watch the sun set on the 'Great Dividing Range' and wonder if we will ever set aside or arrogance or conceit long enough to learn.
Think the God complex message in this book is one we should all contemplate.

Hey, I am sorry for adding my comments pretty late.

I agree with what is said above. Somehow I couldn't quote all the statements i wanted to quote.

In the notes at the end of the book it's said that SKs brother Dave was kind of the inspiration for Bobby it's in the section of Dolans Cadillac. Dave King helped his brother with the technical problems which needed to be solved for DC. DK must pretty smart too.

It was also the first time I noticed the arg-sodiums. :biggrin2:

And I really liked Nessys quote to point out that there was hope in the end of the story.:encouragement:

Comments always welcomed and appreciated. Feel free to read ahead if you'd like and post your thoughts in 'Suffer The Little Children' section. That way, you will be ahead of the curve. I am excited about it and will get started on it this afternoon.
