Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte is a terrific gothic film. One of my favorites. Always watch it during our Halloween Marathon Month although I don't think I included it this last year.
If any of you haven't seen this one, you are missing a throwback film to the charm of the south and murder.

Yes Holly, give it a go! It's actually quite a rewarding film. There are several great character actor cameos in the beginning. Burgess Meredith doing a parody of a Tennessee Williams character (I'm assuming) is a real crack up! And if you like Vince's voice, Oliver Reed might send you over the moon. There's a lot to enjoy here if you're willing to go with it.
Sexy Vince? Yeah, I get what you mean. Funny, at 15 or so I checked out the book, "The films of Vincent Price", and to my amazement, one beautiful co-star after another said they found him, "incredibly sexy". (?!!!) Even the girl who played Batgirl on the old Batman TV show said so! The actress Nancy Kovack mentions in a scene where he was suppose to be strangling her, he was actually tickling her.
The idea of women liking Vincent Price made no sense to me! But over the years I've read remembrances of how funny he was, intelligent (Christopher Lee discussing an old photo of him & Vince playing chess said, "I could barely play at all. Vincent, who knew everything about everything was probably a grandmaster. It wouldn't have surprised me."), practically devoid of ego, and generous with his time. Dennis Hopper & he became friends, and he said that Price went out of his way to teach him about art. He said Vince told him he basically did all those crappy horror films for a free trip to Europe, where he could use his paycheck to buy art. Oh, give this a listen. I got into a habit of listing to old radio on youtube while exercising or whatever last year, and this thing scared me to death! I won't give any details! Except to say that Vince is as always in great voice. Imagine hearing that on the radio as a kid in the 1940's? Jeezus! Good luck getting to sleep.

The ladies should really win awards for these roles, I hope they do. I've one more to catch myself up with. Its superior to anything that I have watched in a very long time. I was wondering if anyone else caught this ....
I had not a clue that they did another movie together! When he said the original title I had never heard of it and then my mother piped up and said oh yeah Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte! I've never seen that one so I guess I better check it out. I forgot all about Strait Jacket. Those old Castle films are fun to watch if, for nothing else, to get a good laugh. Not to mention all of his gimmicks. I would have paid money to see Crawford running around movie theater aisles holding an axe. I also loved it when Bob told Warner to pretty much F off.

I'd never heard the term "hagsploitation" until yesterday! Yes, blaxsploitation, bikersploitation, cannibalsploitation, nunsploitation, gothsploitation and of course nazisploitation, but never "hagsploitation". It's like I've been living under a rock!

You haven't been around that long, but we don't run this Board like many others that are out there and trying to shame us when we've removed pictures that are sexualizing women (I understand the irony as you were talking about exploitation films) isn't going to change the fact that we will remove images when they do. The topic of this thread is the TV series The Feud: Bette and Joan, so additional posts should be on that topic not exploitation films. If you want to start a separate thread for that, you're welcome to do so.
