As a writer my self...I study techniques in writing...
And even though "The Dark Tower"-series do have an end...( an and..truely?)
There are others who does continue..Not with the same (never copy a story), but maybe in the same style. As I do.
I am writing on a novel that is bound to another, though it is not that clear ( a bit clear though), book I am also writing. Though...This story..CAME to me. I just had to write it down.
Btw..The dark Tower-series... Have insprired me extremely much in my writing. As Mr King in all his writing. Hopefully he will one day read one of my books. I think he would like them. They are full off terror and agony. And some hope. Some love. But mostly....FEAR. And terror. Yes. Endless terror.

Writing styles are like fingerprints. They might vaguely look alike from a distance, but once you examine them close up, they each have their own unique whorls and patterns. I love meeting and conversing with fellow budding writers, so welcome to the boards! I hope to hear more from you in the future! :byebye:

Sounds like just my kind of thing! Welcome, Elfa, and the best of luck with your writing!

This is absolutely true, in my opinion. If fear and despair and terror are what come out whenever you write, then just you carry on writing fear and despair and terror! :)

......And if you find similarity with other writers you know, like in a writer's room, collaboration partners are the people who share your vision for creativity. If two people or more work on an archaeology dig, one of them might find a statue, or fossil, or something that the other/s might miss .... Then when they put all the results together, they are able to arrive at a shared conclusion fit for publication in scientific journals ....

I think if i had read ‘the gunslinger’ first i might not have gone any further, fortunately for me, i found my way to the dark tower through first black house, then drawing of the three, by then I was thoroughly hooked - then i went back and read the gunslinger, which i found rather dry, a little painful and hard to get through (it was only later I realized that reading the book made me feel parallels to what roland was experiencing- the book for me was like actually crossing a desert that’s a thousand years across. even to the point of finally coming back to life a bit when he found the way station.) not sure if I like it better now or not, but I admit some of the susie on her own stuff dragged for me a bit as well. Still, there is just something about this tale that gets under your skin and changes you. Sometimes I dream of waking up beneath an endless sky in the crimson fields of Can-ca- no- rey(spelling- my bad) and realizing that my life was the dream. It’s happened two or three times now, and it always comes with the strangest feeling of recognition- like Dorothy said”I feel as if I’ve known you all along, but I don’t see how that can be”

I have read the Dark Tower volumes several times. It is the best story I've read over half a century, but The Gunslinger, Volume I, does not seem part of the story for me. The story doesn't begin for me until the drawing of the prisoner, Eddie Dean. Has anyone else had a similar thought?
Yep. If you read my comments on one of the above posts you’ll see I too felt like this story was perhaps necessary but very different than the others and less pleasant/obsession inducing. This is roland’s backstory but the story of the gunslinger is not really about the tower or rolands climb to redemption, more the story of his obsession with the tower

I haven't read the Gunslinger in a long time, I need to go back and get a fresh perspective on it ... and while I'm at it, I'm going to do a Boondocks rewatch, coz it's been awhile on that too ....

I like reading this story because of the interaction between the characters and their close relationship. When I read, I feel I'm literally there with the characters.
