This story takes place outside of SK's usual stompin' grounds. It must be because of how much the Kings love the Bangor library! He mentions the seeds for Christine starting in this story - haven't caught any references yet. Must be in the second half.
Interesting. I'll re-read Christine soon, then - to check!

Hi all, Sorry to have missed the discussion but been kind of busy. I don't have the restraint on me that you seem to have. I couldn't stop. I just read on. But ok, the first ten chapters. They are really like a buildup because this story is built like a novel, not a short story. We get to know Sam and Naomi well. We get hints of things lurking in their past that is waiting to happen and just when the story is about to gather momentum we take a break, Perhaps you can do it but i couldn't. I admire you who could. The point where we have taken the break is where the buildup is done. the anticipation is at its highest and explanations and action comes forward. I warn you.... It is a disturbing and scary story and it only improves from now on. Of the characters i like sarah/naimi most. A strong, brave, likeable woman with problems but still with enough strength to face them. Without her Sams ass woulda been fried. Even in this first half you can see that it is she who draw sam out from the wall he built around himself.

I never had that legend either. The story always makes me feel sorry for anyone who has to live with the memories of abuse. It's a life sentence no one deserves. That never fails to break my heart. I love Dave because he's been through so much and can still find the goodness in others. I see how this could have been an influence for NOS4R2. Ardelia is one of the creepiest monsters I think he has ever written. A vampire, but not a vampire if that makes any sense.

I must be one of the only ones who've never heard of the library policeman urban legend!

Our library used to have a Library Policeman. If you didn't return overdue books and if you ignored first and second written notices, he would visit you at your home. He was a big guy and a little bit scary looking so I wouldn't be surprised if he became the basis for a local urban legend lol
